Journey to FIRE – September Update

This is where I’m at in relation to my FIRE goal. I am amazed that this is where I’m at! You’ve no idea.

I was looking through old screenshots trying to see if maybe I had one of me having no investments so I could see how long ago that was. The earliest I could find was from early 2017, very shortly before my ex husband and I separated.

The screenshot shows that I had $12,165 invested and I’m willing to bet it was 99% my workplace retirement account. I remember having a tiny Roth IRA, but I only contributed once or twice the whole time I had it.

Going from 12k seven years ago, to what I have now! I’m ecstatic! I also found a screenshot from exactly one year after the divorce and I was already at $17k invested. I also want to point out that the retirement plan was a pension plan, so it only grew 2% per year until I withdrew it when I quit. However, I did start investing into a 403b plan in 2018 because I wanted my money to actually grow.
