I have always wanted to be a nomad. When I was a child I would dream about exploring all the places I saw in my textbooks. I never thought about buying a house. I was always too focused on the exploring part to think about anything else.
As a young adult, I would travel as often as I could. Often spending most of the money I made on traveling. I had a goal of visiting all seven continents prior to turning 30. (Accomplished!)
Needless to say, these years were not the ones when I had discovered F.I.R.E.
Post F.I.R.E. discovery, I still traveled as much as I could afford to, but I worked twice as hard to ensure that I made more money that I could freely use on my travels.
Now, my next major goal is to retire at 45. Then I’ll be spending the rest of my time on this earth exploring the rest of it. I don’t know if I’ll stick to this 45 timeline, because much of my fervor for the task left my body the minute I quit my job as a public school teacher. Now that I have a job that I really enjoy and flexibility to do the things I need to do to keep myself alive, plus vacation time and sick time, I don’t feel this DRASTIC desire to quit ASAP.
So while originally the name of my site came from wanting to F.I.R.E. so I could wander the world….now, it’s more referencing the fire I have in my heart to wander the world. Either way, it’s perfect!
Join me on my journey! Regardless of the final destination, I’m certain I’ll enjoy the ride!
